The days are changing and another WhatsApp feature may be coming soon. This is an update to the Status section (the WhatsApp version of Disappearing Stories) that will allow people to share voice memos as status updates. Here are the details:
Testing WhatsApp’s voice status feature
A recent report by WABetaInfo revealed that the Meta-owned messaging platform plans to introduce an option to upload voice notes as disappearing media. This is being tested as part of the new WhatsApp beta for Android, version 2.22.16.3 update.
A microphone icon will appear in the Status section and you can now upload your audio as a status, which is called Audio Status . This joins the existing options to upload photos, videos, links, and even text templates. Take a look at the screenshots here to get an idea.

Voice status has the same privacy settings as regular status updates. You can select all contacts, exclude some contacts, or select some contacts whose updates can be viewed. Additionally, it is also end-to-end encrypted.
However, this feature is still under development. So I don’t know if this will ever see the light of day. And even if it does, we don’t know when it will reach beta or general users. We’ll keep you updated on what WhatsApp has planned as we hear more.
WhatsApp support for Ray-Ban glasses
Meanwhile, WhatsApp has another update. Ray-Ban Stories Glasses now support WhatsApp , allowing you to hear messages aloud, make calls, and send end-to-end encrypted messages. This is in addition to taking photos and videos through the glasses and posting them to Facebook. Remember, these smart glasses were introduced last year.
This announcement was made by Mark Zuckerberg and further develops Meta’s vision of an AR/VR world. Zuckerberg also hinted that users will soon be able to reply to Messenger and WhatsApp messages via voice commands , which, as previously leaked , will require the help of the integrated Facebook Assistant. There is a high possibility that it will become. Details on how this setting works will be announced soon.
So, what do you think about WhatsApp’s upcoming voice status feature and the newly introduced support for Story Glasses? Let us know in the comments section below.
