iOS has become adware: iOS developers

According to an iOS software engineer, “Unfortunately, iOS has become adware.” In a blog post, Steve Streza, who describes himself as a Seattle-based software developer, comic book writer, and video creator, criticized iOS for placing ads in its core apps and system-wide .

Streza is a software engineer at Tumblr, working on iOS app development. In a blog post titled “The Paywalled Garden: iOS is Adware,” Steve went on to talk about something the tech community has ignored for too long . He said that to grow its services business, Apple is integrating ads throughout iOS that encourage users to subscribe to these services.

“If you do not subscribe to these services, you will constantly see these ads in the apps you use or in push notifications that are turned on by default,” the engineers wrote.

We also said that most ads cannot be disabled or hidden using the iOS content blocker extension system.
