Google Pay gets colorful new logo in India

Google recently updated the icons for most of its Workspace apps, including Gmail, Google Drive, and Meet. They all now adhere to the company’s core color scheme (red, green, yellow, blue) and no longer have their own identity. They look pretty much the same, but it looks like the company is throwing another app into the mix.

India’s Google Pay app (previously known as Tez and commonly referred to as GPay) has been spotted with a colorful new logo by Twitter user Sumanta Das. The new logo is currently only available to a select few users. But the big question is why the new logo and what does it mean?

The existing Google Pay logo includes the “G” and “Pay” in the name, as shown in the image above. The only thing that’s multicolored here is the Google logo. However, the new logo doesn’t seem to represent the payment app itself. If you want to understand what the new logo means, you can say that the blue and yellow half of the “u” represents the “G” and the green and red half of the “u” represents the “P” in the Google Pay name. Just add a straight line in the center to complete the letter.

The new Google Pay logo is in line with the company’s new design and color scheme for its products. It is minimalistic yet expresses its identity. However, long-time G Pay users will not be happy with this change. It will take some time to get used to the new colored Google logo instead of the previous stylized Google logo.

The new Google Pay logo is not available to anyone on your team. There are no pending updates and the Play Store listing has not been updated yet. So please be careful as this may be rolled out gradually on the server side . Google has not yet made an official statement and has no plans to switch to the new logo on its social profiles.
