How to use the ChatGPT voice chat feature

Amid the OpenAI turmoil, the company is still tirelessly shipping new features to ChatGPT. The company is currently rolling out voice chat functionality to its ChatGPT app for both Android and iOS. The best part is that it is accessible to both free and paid users. Hats off to OpenAI.

On top of that, it’s developed for natural conversation, not a monotonous question-and-answer assistant. So, if you want to use ChatGPT’s voice chat feature for free, follow the tutorial below.

How to use voice chat with the ChatGPT app

• First, install the ChatGPT app ( Android and iOS , free) on your smartphone.
• Next, launch the ChatGPT app and sign in with your account. Free users also have access to ChatGPT’s voice chat feature.
• Then, tap the “Headphones” icon in the bottom right corner to start voice chat.

• And it was done! Voice chat is now available using ChatGPT. The best part is that they keep the conversation going and actively listen to you.

Customize audio with the ChatGPT app

• If you want to change your voice , open the menu on the left and tap your account at the bottom.
• Now, tap ” Audio ” under “Speech”.
• You can now choose your preferred voice for ChatGPT. I like the default “Sky” voice.

That was a short guide on how to use ChatGPT’s voice chat feature. It may look like Google Assistant or Siri, but in my experience, ChatGPT’s voice chat integration feels more natural, with better text-to-speech and conversation continuity.
