Chrome adds new modes to improve performance

Google has introduced new memory saver and energy saver modes to its Chrome web browser. This helps improve performance.

Memory saver mode frees memory for unused tabs. This reduces Chrome’s memory consumption by up to 40% and helps active tabs run smoothly. This mode is especially useful when using heavily loaded websites, apps, or even playing online games. If you want to use an inactive tab again, it will be reloaded and available for use.

Meanwhile, Energy Saver mode helps conserve battery by limiting background activities and visual effects . So if you want to quickly search for something using Chrome, you can easily do so without worrying about running out of battery, even when the battery is at 20%.

The new performance mode is located in Chrome’s Settings (under the three-dot menu in the top-right corner) and will appear near the search bar when enabled. Both Memory Saver mode and Energy Saver mode are rolling out to Chrome on the desktop and will be available to all users globally on Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS .

These two modes are part of Google Chrome version 108 and include price tracking features, the ability to open search in the side panel, and more. What do you think about Chrome’s new features? Let us know in the comments below.
