Two heavyweights in the gaming industry, Xbox and Riot Games, announced a partnership in June 2022. As a result of this new partnership, Riot titles were added to Xbox Game Pass on December 12th. Yes, you can enjoy Valorant, League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, and more from the Xbox app on Windows PC. However, perhaps the best part of Xbox and Riot’s collaboration is the insane rewards you can unlock in Valorant and League of Legends. So if you’re looking for a step-by-step tutorial on how to link your Riot account to your Xbox account to access Game Pass benefits, you’ve come to the right place. How to link your Riot and Xbox accounts (2022)

Step-by-step guide to linking your Riot account to your Xbox account

Connecting your Riot account to your Xbox is a simple three-step process. Simply log into your respective account in a web browser and authorize the pairing process. Here’s how it works:

1. First, you need to go to the ” Xbox Social Sign-in ” web page linked here. You will need to log in to your Microsoft account on the above page.

2. Next, select the Microsoft (Xbox) account you just logged into.

Note : This step may not be visible to all users as it may be redundant. It is always visible to users who are already logged in to their Xbox account in a web browser.

3. Now, you will need to give Riot Games permission to access your Xbox account information in order to link the two accounts. Click the “Yes” button to authenticate the connection.

4. Next, you will be asked to log into your Riot Games account. Enter your login credentials and proceed to the next step.

5. That’s it! You have successfully linked your Xbox and Riot accounts. A confirmation message will appear on the screen. Click the OK button to proceed to the Riot account settings page.

5. You can confirm that the two accounts are linked in the Connected Accounts section of your Riot account settings page.

Unlock Valorant Agents, LOL Champions with Xbox Game Pass

You might think you’ve now successfully linked your Riot and Xbox accounts. So you should already be able to see its effects in-game. Well, not really. At least it wasn’t for me. I opened Valorant after linking my account and found that not all agents were unlocked. I restarted the game several times. However, we had to jump through a few more hoops to see the benefits of an Xbox Game Pass subscription in Valorant. Therefore, please follow the steps below.

1. When you open the Xbox app, you’ll see a pop-up for Valorant (or any other Riot game you have installed) in the left sidebar. It showed that the game had pending updates. Click the Update icon.

Note : Nothing special happened when I clicked the refresh icon. Instead, the Xbox app crashed several times during the process. Then I reopened the Xbox app.

2. When I reopened the app, the option to update the game disappeared and I was able to open Valorant from within the Xbox app. So I clicked the “Play” button.

3. Valorant launched normally, but this time an ” Xbox Game Pass Perk ” unlock notification appeared in-game. You can now confirm that the process of linking your Riot and Xbox accounts worked.

Note : Riot states on its official support page that the unlock process can take up to 24 hours in some cases. You will receive an in-game notification when the rewards program and its benefits are available.

4. Valorant agents like Astra, Reyna, and Yor are now “ unlocked with the rewards program ,” as shown in the screenshot. They all feature reward program indicators. Note : Per a tweet from Riot’s Joe Hixson, be aware that any perks you unlock using Xbox Game Pass will be revoked when you end your membership. However, all your progress is not lost. “Even if you let your subscription expire, everything you earned through gameplay will remain unlocked later,” Hixon said.

Not everyone has the same amount of time to play the game and unlock all the characters. So Riot Games’ partnership with Xbox is a great way to skip the hassle and access all your characters at once. And in addition to existing characters, Riot has promised that all Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to play with new agents in Valorant and new champions in League of Legends on release day.
