As children become more interested in STEM learning, educational robot toys are becoming more common on the market. The result is some advanced modular robotic toys designed to help children learn the basic concepts of programming and problem solving. Sphero indi is not that different.
Sphero Indy
Developed by the famous robot toy manufacturer Sphero, indi is essentially a toy car that helps children learn the core concepts of problem solving and logical thinking. The learning set comes with Indy, a small robot car, and a bunch of color-coded silicone-based tiles designed to give Indy specific instructions.
For example, a green tile tells the car to go fast, a pink tile tells the car to turn left, a yellow tile tells the car to drive slowly, and a red tile tells the car to stop. Therefore, the car is equipped with a color sensor that detects the color of the tiles it is driving on and responds accordingly.
Sphero indi therefore allows children to design their own courses and mazes with the provided tiles. Additionally, the set includes challenge cards and some missing tiles that come with the course. These tasks allow learners to figure out how to get the car from point A to point B despite missing tiles.
indi charges via a USB port and comes with a speaker and LED light. Additionally, this toy does not require connection to a smartphone or companion app. It starts working right out of the box and provides a screen-free learning experience for your child. However, if your child is ready to step it up a bit, you can use the Sphero Edu Jr app to customize instructions using block-based language.
Price and availability
