CS2 has officially been released, replacing everyone’s favorite Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with a slew of new features. Thanks to the Source 2 engine, Counter-Strike 2 feels like an entirely new game with improved sounds, mechanics, and more. Although the game has some new features, it also lacks some very popular legacy features that were present in CS: GO. These features were very important in CS: GO, but you’ll find them gone in the new CS2 update. So do we, so we’ve compiled a list of all the major features missing from CS2.
1. Achievements
CS:GO players, we hear you and we see you. It took us all 12 years to perfect our game and have all the little accomplishments that meant a lot to us. Unfortunately, Valve thought it would be cool to remove them all when replacing older games, which is just sad. I mean, I understand why these old achievements are gone, but at least it brings us some new ones so we can look forward to achieving new goals in the game, apart from the player-out kick votes. Masu.
2. No left hand view model
What was one of my favorite features in CS:Go is noticeably absent from Counter-Strike 2, and it’s annoying. The left hand view model was great for right eye dominant players. This feature could be enabled in older versions of the game using the console command code “cl_righthand 0”. I hope Valve thinks of the players and brings this feature back to the game soon.
For more information and updates about the left-hand model in Counter-Strike 2, check out our dedicated article for the same.
3. Map-specific agents
One of the coolest things about being on the CT side for me was the different outfits I liked on the different maps. However, it slowly started to disappear with the introduction of custom agent skins. But with the release of CS2, it feels like map-specific agent functionality is gone forever.
Yes, just choose the Phoenix Army on the T side or the SAS on the CT side. CS2 no longer has map-specific factions or player models. I think Valve is going to make bank by selling new agent skins.
4. Wingman Map
Valve has officially added Wingman game mode to CS:GO. This game mode features fast-paced 2v2 battles that end quickly. The best part of this game mode, however, was the large map pool. Well, things have changed in Counter-Strike 2. There are only four Wingman maps available at this time. It’s unclear when Valve will add the Wingman map, which is a bit embarrassing for such a great game mode.
5. Netgraph command
If you love using the developer console in CS:GO, you should know about the “net_graph 1” console command. Yes, I know this command no longer exists. The net chart command displayed a real-time FPS graph along with packet loss rate and ping. For this reason, this command was one of the most commonly used commands.
The netgraph command still exists in CS2, but it behaves differently and indicates whether the connection to the server is stable or slow. We also have detailed instructions on how to view FPS in Counter-Strike 2, so check it out if you want to always check your frame rate.
6. Danger zone
The Danger Zone game mode came to CS: GO as a battle royale bootleg to end competition with the likes of PUBG, Fortnite, and Apex Legends. It wasn’t the game mode itself that was bad, it was the slowness of the Counter-Strike characters. As such, this game mode was not well received by the player base. That’s likely why this game mode wasn’t brought back in CS2.
7. Mode-specific weapons
Are you saving hostages? Oh, they’re both already dead. Thanks to Valve, there is no longer a Riot Shield protecting you on the Hostage map. In addition to shields, CS2 also lacks other game mode-specific weapons that are their older counterparts, such as axes, hammers, breach charges, and bump mines. Removing other items is ok, but what about the shield? Really? Please bring back the valve (otherwise we will riot!).
8. Bob effect
Do you find your gun moving too much when you’re walking or doing nothing? Guess what? For the uninitiated, this is called weapon swing, and it’s been around in Counter-Strike games for a long time. However, in CS:GO there was a way to fix this through console commands.
The console command “cl_bob” used to work fine. Pro players such as S1mple and Shroud also used this command. Well, now that CS2 is here and things have changed with the new Counter-Strike 2 console commands, there is no longer a way to fix the bob effect on weapons. Looks like I need to get used to the swing of the gun now.
9. Coaching slots
Last but not least, one of the biggest features missing from CS2 is an in-game coach slot . We all know that Valve loves adding esports elements to every game mode in Counter-Strike and Dota 2. However, this well-known feature is currently missing and may be added to the game in the future, perhaps around the time LAN tournaments resume.
That was a short list of features that are currently missing from Counter-Strike 2. What features are missing from CS2 that have been present in Counter Strike Global Offensive or previous versions for the past 10 years? Of course, this list doesn’t mention the 11 years of community creation. Once the workshop launches and community work starts pouring in, we’ll be featuring some great community work on CS2 as well. But for now, it’s a good idea to check out our explanation of CS2 Premier Rank ratings. Finally, if you want to convert your Valorant sensitivity to CS2 sensitivity, don’t miss the linked guide.
FAQ
What will happen to CS:GO skins in CS2?
Don’t worry. This is one feature that CS2 never lacks. Gloves, knives, and other skins you own on your Steam account will not change. However, the appearance may change slightly due to engine upgrades, new lighting, etc.
