AI Dungeon is an AI-based text adventure game for Android and iOS

If you’re tired of casual games on Android or iOS, here’s a new game that will make you think and make logical decisions. We’re talking about AI Dungeon, an AI-based text adventure game that twists the story according to your input.

To put that into perspective, think of this game as a super-advanced version of the Netflix TV show Black Mirror: Bandersnatch . The exception is that, unlike in the show, the possibilities are much greater in the game. Behind the scenes, the game leverages OpenAI’s text generation system to perform its magic.

Starting the game is very easy. You can create an account using your email address or sign up with Facebook. Once you log in, you’ll be asked to choose one of the genres: Fantasy, Mystery, Apocalypse, Zombie, etc. There is a “custom” genre and you need to describe the genre in case you want to try something different.

After a few more inputs, the app will create a bunch of new stories and determine the flow of the story. I tried the game on Android. The game feels engaging, but there’s a slight lag in getting a response.

Sometimes the response may seem irrelevant and out of context, but most of the time it revolves around the topic. The game recommends starting each sentence with a verb to increase accuracy.
