Alan Wake 2, the sequel to Remedy Entertainment’s cult classic action-horror title, has been long anticipated by gamers. The game will continue the horror author’s story and start the Remedy Shared Universe. As the game’s launch nears the finish line, Remedy has shared news about preloading. After all, the size of the game is quite large, and not everyone has a high-speed Internet connection. Remedy Entertainment has shared important details about the Alan Wake 2 preload via their official X-post (formerly Twitter). Preload is exclusive to Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 consoles.

As of this writing, Alan Wake 2 preload is live . You can start downloading games right away from each console’s storefront to prepare for launch. One thing that may confuse some players is the omission of preload for PC players. Unfortunately, there is no preload period for Alan Wake 2 on PC. The reason could be the Epic Games Store exclusivity. The platform has never offered preloaded titles before. Additionally, the store does not support preloading video games, so PC players will have to wait until Alan Wake 2 is released on October 27, 2023.

Unlike Starfield, where the game’s install size was not officially confirmed and influencers revealed it as well, Remedy made the game’s install size public. Unfortunately, this is in line with the current trend of games getting bigger. The game install sizes on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are:

• PlayStation 5: 85GB
• Xbox Series X/S: 82GB

Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S install sizes are smaller than the EGS launch. The PC version of Alan Wake 2 clocks in at around 86GB . One thing we’re not sure about is whether this is the final launch size for the game, including the day one patch. However, since Alan Wake 2 is a digital-only title, this size is expected to include a day one patch.

How to preload Alan Wake 2 now

To preload a title on either console, you must pre-order the title from the respective storefront. The game costs $59.99 on both Xbox and PlayStation, and $49.99 on PC. After purchasing, please follow the instructions.

• Go to your PlayStation 5’s Library Dashboard.
• From here, select or search for Alan Wake 2.
• Once completed, click the “Download” button to begin preloading.

For Xbox series X/S

• Open the Xbox Store and search for “Alan Wake 2.”
• When you visit the store page, you’ll see an option to preinstall the title. Click on the option to start preloading.
