Apple receives help from BOE for iPhone SE 4 display

The iPhone SE 4 appears to be on track to be released next year. This leaves room for a lot of rumors and leaks before the actual launch takes place, but as per tradition, there is a new rumor talking about the display of the next-generation iPhone SE. Please see below for details.

iPhone SE 4 will have an OLED screen

A recent report by The Elec hints at the biggest change Apple will introduce with the cheaper iPhone SE 4: the presence of an OLED display . Apple will receive support from BOE for this, which is said to amount to 20 million units. The display maker was previously expected to supply panels for the iPhone 15 series in 2023, but was unable to do so due to production issues.

The iPhone SE 4 is likely to come with a 6.1-inch screen , a first for the SE lineup. Apple is expected to use OLED display stock from iPhone 13 or iPhone 14 considering it is a low-end iPhone. Therefore, we can expect a larger display with a notch.

Previous iPhone SEs used small LCD screens, but the use of OLED screens could change things for the moribund iPhone lineup. The next iPhone SE is expected to have a significantly changed display, adopt Face ID, and discontinue Touch ID. Alternatively, it could integrate a side-mounted fingerprint reader, which would also be a first for Apple.

The overall design is also expected to be similar to the iPhone 13, but we don’t know much about what will happen. According to Kuo’s recent words, Apple is restarting development of the iPhone SE 4, which may include a custom 5G baseband chip , which will eliminate the Qualcomm chip.
