Asus today announced its latest flagship in India, the Asus 6z, at an event held in New Delhi. The new phone comes with a host of exciting specs and features, including the latest Snapdragon 855 processor and a completely bezel-less display with no notches or punch-holes that break the immersion of staring at your phone. Asus has achieved this with rotating camera technology that allows the rear camera to flip up and become a front camera when needed.

This opens up a world of possibilities. You get 48MP selfies, the ability to record 4K video in selfie mode (which we think is perfect for vloggers on the go), and more. But Asus has further improved the Flip camera by not only making it motorized, but also allowing users to set it to any angle they want, allowing for incredible perspectives. This motorized flip camera also powers the 6z’s new panoramic capabilities.

Why call this the “new” panoramic feature? Since the phone comes with a motorized flip camera, Asus has taken advantage of this by simply flipping the camera slowly and the phone automatically Allows you to take panoramas. That means you don’t have to move your hands and try to shoot. To get a great panorama, keep your phone on the same line of motion. Just hold your phone (or even better, place it on a tripod) and enable the panorama feature. Asus 6z automatically moves the camera module to capture seamless panoramas. Meanwhile, you can sit back and enjoy the view.

We used the 6z’s panorama feature quite a bit. Here are some camera samples so you can see how the panorama looks from your phone.

The panorama has been resized for the web, but you can view the full size image here .

Obviously, the Asus 6z’s panoramic capabilities are very impressive, but that’s not the only great new camera feature on the phone. 6z can now also track objects in videos. That’s amazing. So what do you think? Do you like Asus’ implementation of panorama on the 6z or do you think it’s just a gimmick? Let us know!
