Asus recently launched the ZenFone 5Z in India with the aim of overturning OnePlus 6’s dominance in the market. ZenFone 5Z has a starting price of 1,000 yen. It is priced at 29,999 and comes with a 3,300 mAh battery with QuickCharge 3.0 support. So, if you’re wondering how long the ZenFone 5Z’s battery lasts, we’ve put it to the test for you.
charging test
Asus is touting this as a flagship smartphone to compete with the OnePlus 6 (specs are comparable to 2018’s flagship smartphones), so it’s no surprise that the company enabled QuickCharge 3.0 on the ZenFone 5Z . So, first I tried a charging test.
When I tried charging my ZenFone 5Z from 10% to 100%, I noticed a few things. First, the ZenFone 5Z goes up to 50% in about 30 minutes . This is really great. It’s not as fast as Dash Charge (which gets to about 70% in 30 minutes), but it’s pretty good. The ZenFone 5Z takes about 90 minutes to reach full 100% , which is also a pretty good time.
To be honest, I have no complaints about the ZenFone 5Z’s charging speed. Asus has done a pretty good job.
battery life
Moving on to the battery life you can expect from the ZenFone 5Z, this phone is about as long as you would expect a modern flagship paired with an IPS LCD panel to last with its battery capacity.
Battery life with light use
Starting with a full 100% charge in the morning, the ZenFone 5Z charges through normal daily usage of the phone, including web browsing, light casual gaming, calls, social media, and playing ZeniMoji (which sucks, by the way). I noticed that I ended the day with about 38% battery left . This was about as expected considering the screen on time was 3 hours and 30 minutes . Basically, if the usage is fairly light, the phone will last a day without any problems.

Battery life with heavy use
If you use it frequently, i.e. if you use your phone a lot with heavy games (such as PUBG Mobile or Asphalt 8), if you take a lot of photos and videos, if you use Instagram a lot in addition to regular WhatsApp messages and calls You will have to do so. It didn’t go very well. It started at 100% around noon and was on screen for 4 hours and 8 minutes . At that point the battery had reached a panic-inducing 5%. Needless to say, if you are a heavy user, you may need to charge your ZenFone 5Z during a normal day to keep it running until the end of the day.

ZenFone 5Z battery test: Fairly good but nothing special
In conclusion, the battery life of the Asus ZenFone 5Z is good enough. Nothing special. However, the ZenFone 5Z isn’t lacking when it comes to the battery department, as the OnePlus 6’s battery life is also similar. In fact, I think the battery life is a little better than I expected from a phone since it has an LCD display. The base version of ZenFone 5Z is priced at Rs. 29,999, and at that price, this phone looks quite competitive with the OnePlus 6.
