Since first launching in Australia last year, Facebook has expanded its Bitmoji-like “avatars” to New Zealand, Europe and the United States . India is the latest country to get a Facebook avatar.

Interested Indian Facebook users can now generate characters to represent themselves, similar to Snapchat’s Bitmoji. If you’re a Facebook user, you can use avatars in your stories, posts, profile pictures, and chats. Facebook has reportedly created a customized avatar template for India.

Avatars can be created from both Facebook and Messenger. You need to tap on the smiley button and select “Create Avatar”. You can also access your avatar from the bookmarks and comments section.

In fact, you can customize your avatar by choosing skin color, hairstyle, nose shape, clothing, and more. Please note that avatar creation from Messenger is currently limited to Android . That said, iOS users will get this tool later.

“With so many of our social interactions happening online these days, being able to express yourself personally on Facebook is more important than ever. Avatars allow you to create a digital persona that uniquely represents you. , and share your emotions and expressions in a fun and personalized way,” Facebook said in a statement.

Following the success of Bitmoji, several companies have worked to introduce their own versions of this feature. There are also many applications that can help you generate such characters. It remains to be seen whether avatars will be widely adopted among Facebook users in the country.
