Galaxy Tab S4 performance review: Pretty impressive

The Galaxy Tab S4 is in an odd spot spec-wise. The price is Rs. 57,900, Samsung’s flagship tablet is clearly priced at a flagship price and boasts attractive specs, as long as you don’t pay too much attention to the processor inside (Snapdragon 835). A big part of my job is finding out. However, the specs are old, so when you first get this big back box that says “Tab S4” in Samsung’s favorite font, it’s in Samsung’s favorite blue color, it’s a generation older, and then it’s two generations older. I was a little underwhelmed looking at the old processor. Once Qualcomm announces its new flagship Snadragon 855 mobile platform (probably by the end of this year), I wouldn’t blame you if you’re tempted to ignore this tablet without even giving it a second glance. , I would be wrong if I didn’t say that this tablet nevertheless performs very well.

Galaxy Tab S4 performance review

As usual, I ran some benchmarks on the Tab S4 to get a general idea of what to expect from this tablet. We then performed some simple daily use and some games to see how it performs in real-world scenarios.

benchmark

We tested the Tab S4 with two benchmarks: Geekbench 4 and AnTuTu. The results were about what you’d expect from a tablet with a Snapdragon 835 and 4GB RAM. In Geekbench 4, the Tab S4 scores 1854 in the single-core test and 6365 in the multi-core test, which is on par with other Snapdragon 835 devices, but noticeably lower than devices with Snapdragon 845 . On AnTuTu, the Tab S4 managed a pretty decent score of 201,986.

Real world usage

When it comes to actual use, the Tab S4 does not disappoint. Whether you’re using it for productivity, watching movies, or playing the odd game of PUBG Mobile, the Tab S4 can handle everything perfectly.

Everything on the Tab S4 runs smoothly, the animations are nice and clean, switching between apps is fast and easy , and overall everything feels perfectly comfortable. Even in standalone DeX mode, the Tab S4 works very well. There are some minor performance issues here and there, like Chrome’s loading animation frequently dropping frames and the app drawer taking a second to respond to keyboard input, but otherwise A problem occurs. Moreover, the standalone DeX mode also performs very well. It can easily handle multiple open tabs without any lag and is definitely a great feature.

On the gaming front, the Tab S4 also delivers great performance. I played PUBG Mobile and Fortnite on the Tab S4 and my experience was great as far as performance is concerned. PUBG Mobile runs at the highest Ultra frame rate settings on the Tab S4 and there are no performance issues anywhere. The game is completely stable, and even in intense gunfights the tab copes admirably. PUBG has screen scaling issues, but it’s up to Tencent Games to fix it, and you can’t blame the Tab S4.

Even in Fortnite, the Tab S4 has great performance. The graphics are some of the best I’ve seen on an Android device, and games look better on a larger screen than on a smaller Android flagship device. The experience is definitely not as good as an iOS device, but definitely better than most Android smartphones.

Overall, there’s nothing to complain about when it comes to the Tab S4’s performance.

Galaxy Tab S4 Performance Review: Pretty Great

The Galaxy Tab S4 is a flagship Android tablet and offers comparable performance. It’s clear that Samsung is going after the iPad Pro with this tablet, and it’s definitely one to watch. In terms of performance, this tablet handles everything admirably well, and it never feels like it’s powered by the previous-generation Snapdragon 835 mobile platform. The bottom line is that if you’re interested in buying an Android tablet that won’t disappoint (and most tablets will), the Tab S4 is a great option.
