Huawei recently launched the Nova 3i in the country, which is powered by its latest in-house chipset, the Kirin 710 SoC. This device has very good features and is priced at 1,000 yen. 20,990 offers some great cameras and premium build quality. However, the battery capacity of this device is only 3,340mAh. The company claims that the offered capacity combined with EMUI ensures good battery backup, but I would like to test it myself. Well, this is the battery test for Huawei Nova 3i.
battery life
The Nova 3 has a built-in 3,340mAh battery, but thanks to Huawei’s software optimizations that play a key role in extending the device’s battery life, the device rarely loses its charge when not in use. It lasts a long time because it doesn’t get damaged . In fact, it’s better than AOSP’s Doze mode in most ways.
Battery life with light use

While testing the battery life of the Huawei Nova 3 under light usage, I started my day with a full 100% charge and spent the whole day doing light web browsing, casual gaming, calls, social media, and a little more phone calls. I used photo shoot. Amazingly, the Nova 3i lasted about 1.5 days on a single charge , and then EMUI’s battery saver mode allowed me to continue using the device into the night.
Battery life with heavy use
However, if you use it often, things will be a little different, but nothing out of the ordinary. My frequent usage is taking tons of photos and posting them on Instagram regularly, playing a lot of PUBG Mobile while chatting with friends on Discord, watching YouTube videos, and using WhatsApp and Telegram a lot. It’s something to do. The device managed to last until the end of the day, displaying 5 hours and 43 minutes of screen time.

charging test
Powered by a 3,340mAh battery, the Huawei Nova 3i has a good amount of battery to last the device for a full day. However, this device comes with a microUSB charging port and is not capable of any kind of fast charging . And to be honest, this is a huge disappointment, especially considering the fact that the Honor Play in the same price range comes with a better fast charger. Making things even worse is the almost standard 9V/2A charging brick, and you can already tell this test is headed south.

In normal testing, it took about 1 hour and 40 minutes to charge the Huawei Nova 3i from 10% to 60%, which is very slow. To make matters worse, it took me over 2 hours to fully complete this, which is not good at all . Also, like the Nova 3, the Nova 3i charges fairly evenly, unlike other fast charging solutions that quickly charge your device to 50 percent and then slow down a bit before reaching 100 percent. So, before you take your device out for the day, you should charge it for at least 40-45 minutes. If you know that your day will be less dependent on your smartphone, you can do that too.

Huawei Nova 3i: Long battery life but slow charging speed
All things considered, the Huawei Nova 3i offers pretty good battery life thanks to its decent capacity and EMUI changes. However, the slow charging speed of the device is a big disappointment and really ruins the overall experience. All in all, if you can afford to keep your phone charged, the Nova 3i can provide just about everything you need as a daily driver.
