Microsoft Defender anti-malware app released on Android

Microsoft has released a public preview of its cybersecurity software on Android. The software, called Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP), is aimed at enterprises, not end users. The company says the app helps organizations protect sensitive data from being accessed through unsecured devices. Microsoft says its security software protects users by detecting unsafe emails, applications, and endpoints on Android.

The company said in an official blog post on Tuesday that the software uses deep learning and heuristics to provide protection against phishing and other online threats. It also provides malware scanning to protect your risky network connections from malicious apps and websites. Additionally, the app also provides network administrators with the ability to restrict access to corporate data from devices deemed “risky.” “(This) enables enterprises to protect users and data on Android devices,” Microsoft said.

Microsoft released a public preview of Microsoft Defender ATP on Linux earlier this year. The development comes less than a year after the company released its enterprise security software on the Mac. The company also announced that it is developing similar products for Android and iOS. As part of its plan to provide endpoint threat protection across all popular computing platforms, desktop and mobile, Microsoft removed the “Windows” branding from its product names in 2019 and replaced it with “Microsoft Defender. ” was renamed.
