Microsoft is expected to announce new hardware at the Surface 2023 event on September 21, 2023. The 2023 lineup is expected to include the Surface Laptop Studio 2, Surface Go 4, and Surface Laptop Go 3. The specifications of these devices have been revealed online. Let’s take a look at all the details in the recent leak.
Surface Laptop Studio 2 will be equipped with Intel 13th generation CPU
Without further ado, let’s take a look at one of the most exciting Surface laptops that Microsoft makes: the Surface Laptop Studio. The rumored Surface Laptop Studio 2 is expected to feature a new Intel processor, with the leak specifically mentioning the Intel Core i7-13800H.
This particular processor has a base TDP of 45W, and Intel says it has a maximum turbo power of 115W. The final turbo power limit for a CPU when installed in a particular laptop depends on the value set by the computer manufacturer according to its cooling limits. Learn more about the 13th Gen Raptor Lake processor lineup for laptops.
If we follow what Microsoft did internally with the previous PC (with the i7-11370H), the Surface Laptop Studio 2 should boost to around 50W. Compared to its predecessor, the i7-13800H, the rumored chip for Surface Laptop Studio 2, comes with a total of 14 cores with a configuration of 6 P cores + 8 E cores. It should increase up to 5 GHz, but everything depends on the upcoming Surface Laptop Studio 2′ cooling system.
In addition to this, the leak also states that 16/32 GB RAM and 512 GB/1 TB storage configurations are planned. Arguably, it is DDR5 memory that has brought a lot of advancements compared to DDR4. The new display was also mentioned to have a size of 14.4 inches and a resolution of 2400 x 1600 (3:2 format).
Surface Go 4 and Surface Laptop Go 3 specs leaked
The new Surface Go 4 is expected to be powered by an Intel processor rather than ARM. According to the leak, it is currently unclear whether Microsoft will call the laptop the Surface Go 4. However, sources suggest that ARM processors are not planned “under any circumstances.” Surface Go 4 is likely to launch with an Intel N200 quad-core processor, which is part of Intel’s Alder Lake N series.
As for the Surface Laptop Go 3, it is expected to be equipped with last-generation Intel chips starting in 2022. Specifically, the leak mentions that the rumored Surface Laptop Go 3 will be equipped with an Intel Core i5-1235U. This chip has 10 cores, consisting of 2 P cores and 8 E cores . It would have been better to have a 13th generation chip here. Sadly, this leak suggests that Microsoft is not considering implementing Raptor Lake on the Surface Laptop Go 3 at all. The 13th generation seems to be reserved for high-end laptops.
The leak also mentions the RAM and storage capacity of these upcoming Surface 2023 laptops. Surface Laptop Go 3 is available in 128 GB and 256 GB SSD capacities, with an optional 8 GB RAM capacity. Surface Go 4 will also be available in 8GB RAM capacity. There are rumors that the 4GB RAM version will be completely discontinued. As for storage, the Surface Go 4 is expected to have 128GB or 256GB of SSD capacity.
