This is a fluffy powerhouse where you can unlock lots of amazing items in the game. But it’s not just their power or size that makes this mob so amazing. What is a sniffer in Minecraft?

The winner of Minecraft Mob Vote 2022 is the Sniffer, a passive feature mob that will be added to the game in the 1.20 update. This is the first ancient mob to appear in the game world and has some unique powers. Sniffer roams the outside world, wagging his nose and smelling ancient seeds . It can pull ancient seeds from the ground and collect them to grow special plants.

Where to find the sniffer in Minecraft

Sniffers are one of the few Minecraft mobs that cannot spawn naturally in the game world. Instead, it should come out of an ancient egg in the form of a snifflet. This snifflet or baby sniffer grows into the giant dinosaur population we know and love. This egg can be excavated from a suspicious sand block in Warm Sea Ruins. Minecraft Sniffer: Basic Properties

Now that you understand the basics of the Minecraft sniffer, let’s take a closer look at how this new mob works.

Sniffers are one of the largest mobs in the game, but their size does not reflect their strength. Its health is worth 14 points , which is the equivalent of 7 hearts for the player. Sniffer will regenerate a heart when fed a Torchflower Seed.

When it comes to health reduction, Sniffer doesn’t seem to have any special abilities or defenses. In Minecraft, damage from fire, lava, and falling can fatally reduce your health. Additionally, sniffer eggs spawn in the ocean, but the mobs themselves are not immune to drowning or suffocation. So, apart from the special sniffing ability, our new mob is just like any other passive mob.

Sniffers are passive mobs in Minecraft, so they are completely forgiving and will not attack you even if you attack them first . Additionally, when it comes to interacting with mobs, both Wardens and Withers will attack Sniffer without discrimination. The former can defeat Sniffer in one blow. On the other hand, it takes the player about 14 simple attacks to stop the Sniffer.

When it comes to loot, sniffers only drop 1-3 experience points (about 10% chance). However, breeding them will give you more experience, so we recommend not doing anything drastic with this loot.

What does a sniffer do in Minecraft

Sniffer Mobs focus on mob behavior as they wander aimlessly through the world of Minecraft. Consciously avoid obstacles such as water, fire, lava, and unclimbable blocks. While walking around, sniffers sniff their surroundings (perhaps to sniff out seeds) and move their noses dramatically.

You must rely entirely on Sniffer for these seeds.

There are two ancient seeds in Minecraft that sniffers can find.

• Torchflower Seeds – Has 3 Growth Stages
• Pitcher Pod – Has 5 growth stages

You can plant these seeds in farmland blocks and wait until they reach their full size. Then you can break them out and get houseplants that you can place anywhere in the world.

How to make a sniffer sniff in Minecraft

Once the snifflet grows into an adult sniffer, it will start sniffing after a while. Upon completion, an 8-minute cooldown will begin, during which time no seeds will be searched. In addition to the cooldown timer, the sniffer remembers the last 20 blocks dug and does not select those blocks. If you dig more than 20 blocks, you will forget the block you originally chose and will now consider that to be a good place to dig.

In Minecraft 1.20, a sniffer must have at least a 6×6 diggable block to be able to start sniffing. Those blocks are:

• mud
• Podzol
• coarse dirt
• deep-rooted dirt
• grass block
• moss block
• mud
• muddy mangrove roots

Once you have configured the sniffer’s compatible areas, all you have to do is wait for the sniffer to do its job. However, having multiple sniffers definitely helps.

How to breed sniffers in Minecraft

Breeding sniffers is easy in Minecraft. Just gather two sniffers and wait for them to dig up the Torchflower seeds. Once they find the seeds, you’ll need to feed them to the sniffer to get them into “affection mode.” A sniffer egg will then be dropped. It takes about 20 minutes for the snifflet to develop into an adult sniffer. In addition, parents require a 5-10 minute rest (cool-down) before preparing for the next breeding session.
