OnePlus 5T is a really good smartphone. A perfect balance of performance, price, and appearance. It feels amazing in the hand, and despite the large 6-inch screen, it’s fairly easy to use with one hand. But today we are not talking about all the details. Today, we will focus only on the performance of OnePlus 5T as we want to test its limits.
To do so, we’ll first run some benchmarks and compare it to other Android flagship devices. But that’s just the beginning. Most of Android’s flagship devices run on the same Qualcomm processor, so you can’t rely on benchmarks alone. The main test begins when you push the OnePlus 5T by playing hours of graphics-intensive games, launching multiple apps, and multitasking.

But before we get into testing, let’s clear up the specs. OnePlus 5T is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor with four cores clocked at 2.45 GHz and the other four cores clocked at 1.9 GHz. It will also come with either 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM, depending on which version of the phone you buy. The device we’re testing today is the 8 GB version . Also, the OnePlus 5T currently runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat instead of Android Oreo. Now that we have the specifications set up, let’s start testing the device.
OnePlus 5T Benchmark Test
We ran both Geekbench and AnTuTu and found that the OnePlus 5 outperformed all other Android flagship devices, including the Pixel 2 and Samsung Galaxy S8. However, while the single-core score on Geekbench was close to both of the devices mentioned above, it’s in the multi-core tests where the OnePlus 5T really excels. The Galaxy S8 and Pixel 2’s multi-core test scores were 6381 and 6315, respectively, while the OnePlus 5T’s score was 6687 . All three devices run the same processor, so the 5T’s performance improvement can be attributed to better optimizations and more RAM.

As for AnTuTu, OnePlus 5T still outperforms both flagships by a comfortable margin . You can check the score in the image attached below.

OnePlus 5T real-world performance test
So, we’ve established the fact that the OnePlus 5T performs well when it comes to benchmarks, but how does it perform in real life? To find out, I started by playing Asphalt Extreme for an hour straight without a break. We played and tested the OnePlus 5T. Next, we played Marvel Future Fight (about 30 minutes) , one of the most demanding games on the Play Store, and the game Vertigo Racing , which may not be as demanding but is certainly fun to play. Finished the session. I spent the next hour or so making phone calls and using various social media apps like Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit. Finally, I finished the test by playing a few more games and streaming Stranger Things 2 on Netflix .

I’ll talk about the results in a moment, but first I’d like to touch on something I noticed, or rather didn’t notice, while testing the phone. OnePlus 5T doesn’t seem to heat up at all. Even after doing the above tests, I was still unable to heat up the OnePlus 5T to a point where it would cause problems . There was no overheating, so the processor didn’t suffer from any kind of thermal throttling, and the 5T breezed through everything I threw at it . I enjoyed gaming, as the nearly bezel-less 6-inch screen provides a super immersive environment. I loved the whole experience because there was no lag at all. The experience when streaming content on Netflix was similar. The large screen and extremely smooth streaming were what we enjoyed most while testing the device.
Seeing how the OnePlus 5T handled gaming and streaming content should give you an idea of how the phone handles the rest of the tasks. Apps launch and switch between apps faster than ever before, and the overall UI feels snappier than on any Android device I’ve ever used, with the exception of the Pixel 2. At the moment, I haven’t decided which of the two (OnePlus 5T and Pixel 2) I’ll use. ) both offer crazy performance so it feels faster . But that’s just how great the OnePlus 5T is. OnePlus 5T delivers performance for the money at almost a third of the price of other Android flagship devices. After many hours of vigorous testing of the device, we can say that the OnePlus 5T is exactly the beast it promises to be.
