Have you ever wondered how dirty your phone screen is? It’s dirtier than you expected, but OtterBox finally has a solution. A few days ago at CES 2020, Otterbox announced the first iPhone screen protector with EPA-registered antimicrobial technology.
The new screen protector reflects a joint effort between Otterbox and Corning. Otterbox’s Amplify Glass Antibacterial Screen Protector provides triple protection for your smartphone from scratches, drops, and germs. To prevent bacteria, the company embeds a proprietary ionic silver into the glass.
“We use our phones every day, and we carry them with us everywhere we go, even in places that aren’t completely sanitary,” said OtterBox CEO Jim Parke. “Amplify Glass is equipped with a unique anti-microbial technology that inhibits the growth of some common dirt- and odor-causing bacteria to protect the surface of the screen protector, making it easier to clean your phone. There’s no need to worry about it.
It’s worth noting that Otterbox’s new Amplify Glass is the first screen protector to be registered with the EPA. Amplify Glass is reported to kill 99.9% of bacteria, including E. coli and staphylococcus. The company also claims that Amplify screen protectors offer up to 5x better scratch resistance compared to other glass screen protectors on the market.
Pricing and availability have not yet been announced, but the company says the product will be in stores soon. We will notify you as soon as it occurs, so please wait for a while.
