Realme 1 battery test: Good battery life even with slow charging

The Oppo-powered Realme 1 is here , and it comes with pretty decent specs for the price. While we’ve covered the performance of the Realme 1’s camera and Helio P60 processor separately, the phone also has a 3,410 mAh battery, and we wonder how long that battery will last on a phone of relatively large size. If you think it has a 6-inch LCD display, the test is complete.

Note : Realme 1 price starts from ₹8,990 for 3GB/32GB version. The phone comes in 6GB/128GB versions and is priced at ₹13,990. Obviously, all the phones have the same specs, except for RAM and storage.

charging test

For a phone with a 3,410 mAh battery of this era, some kind of fast charging support was expected, so we started with a charging test. However, the company did not mention it anywhere in its marketing materials, which raised some concerns.

To be honest, the phone charges very slowly and it’s no wonder Realme didn’t talk much about the battery other than the backup it can offer (we’ll talk about battery backup later). It took just over two hours to charge the Realme 1 from 10% to 100%, and to be honest, the charging speed is quite slow . By comparison, the Redmi Note 5 Pro, which comes with a much larger 4,000 mAh battery in the same price range, takes about the same time as the Realme 1. Well, the ZenFone Max Pro with its huge 5,000 mAh battery takes almost the same amount of time to charge, also 2 hours. By these standards, the Realme 1 lags far behind .

battery life

Since the Realme 1’s charging speed was mediocre to somewhat disappointing, I was somewhat prepared for the phone’s battery life to be similarly mediocre. However, the Realme 1 has very good battery life.

I started my day at 8am with a full 100% charge, but realized I didn’t need to charge it all day and only plugged it in when I was about to go to bed around midnight . My usage of Realme 1 was mainly for gaming (including PUBG Mobile, Skyforce), watching videos on YouTube, regular WhatsApp messaging, calling, and general web browsing.

That ‘s decent battery life from the 3,410 mAh battery , and it’s nothing to complain about, especially considering that I used it like I normally use a smartphone, which means moderate to heavy use throughout the day. I don’t think you can.

Most phones show graphs of battery charge/discharge over time and information like screen on time, but for some reason the Realme 1 doesn’t show this information at all .

Realme 1 battery test: Adequate performance

All things considered, the Realme 1’s battery performance is perfectly acceptable. It doesn’t perform as well as the Redmi Note 5 Pro, which has a relatively larger 4,000 mAh battery, but it doesn’t disappoint. Also, you won’t be surprised by low battery warnings during the day. It’s very slow to charge, so I find I usually end up charging it overnight to get a full day of decent use while I’m out and about. Having said that, its base version costs ₹8,990 and for that price, we think the Realme 1’s battery performance is good enough.
