As a Galaxy S10 user, I’m really happy with this phone, except for one thing. There’s no notification LED. I think that’s annoying anyway, but with the S10 things are even worse. Because Samsung let go of a great opportunity to light up a ring around the punch-hole camera to notify users of notifications. Imagine how cool that was.
Unfortunately, what Samsung didn’t give us, we now have, courtesy of Chainfire. Yes, it’s a developer who has created an amazing app that is compatible with both rooted and non-rooted devices. Chainfire has developed an app called “Holey Light” ( free ) that brings notification LED to your Galaxy S10 in the best possible way. Yes, it’s a ring that goes around the punch hole camera.
It’s very easy to set up and gives you lots of control over notification lights, per-app color settings, size, animations, and more.
Note: The Holy Light app requires many permissions. The app will not work without these permissions, so if you are not comfortable with this, please do not download the app.
As long as you have no permission issues and have downloaded the app, the rest is easy. The app guides you through basic setup, and then you can adjust settings to suit your preferences and needs.
One is that there are many animations to choose from. Swirl is obviously the best looking, but it’s also the animation that uses the most battery (up to 5.5% per hour, according to Chainfire). Personally, I use the “pie” animation. This is because it just appears on the punch-hole camera and remains that way. This not only reduces distractions while working, but also reduces discomfort. It’s a battery hog, which is great.

Other than that, you can adjust the colors of different app notifications, and Holey Light also allows you to set different colors for the different notification channels used by your app. But the best part about Holey Light is that it automatically assigns the appropriate color even if you haven’t set a color for a particular app. This is very good. Of course, you can change these colors if you wish, or even disable Holy Lights for specific apps or notification channels entirely.
Holy Light is currently in unreleased beta, so there may be bugs. However, you can rest assured that bugs will always be fixed, as the developers are constantly working on fixes and patches.
So, if you are looking for a great app to add a notification LED to your Galaxy S10, download Holey Light ( free ) from the Play Store. that’s great.
