WhatsApp begins testing new UI with new colors on Android

WhatsApp is expected to change things to give it a fresh look. Taking a step in this direction, the Meta-owned messaging platform has started rolling out a new UI to some Android beta testers. Please see below for details.

The new WhatsApp design is now live!

WhatsApp’s redesigned UI will roll out to some beta testers as part of the WhatsApp for Android 2.23.21.12 update. This adds new icons and options that look more modern. The app’s theme color is now green, hints of which can be seen in the WhatsApp logo, the “New Chat” icon, and even various sections of the app.

If you are using a particular section of the app, it will be highlighted in a green shade, as shown in the screenshot. The new look supports both light and dark modes of the app. This is a very good thing because WhatsApp is bringing design changes to both modes. Check below for better ideas.

This is a welcome change for many and makes it even easier to navigate. We expect similar changes to WhatsApp for iOS, and this is something the messaging platform is working on . However, it remains to be seen when WhatsApp will decide to roll out the same to the general audience. To recall, WhatsApp for iOS recently added a new translucent navigation and top bar , as well as a new action sheet.

In addition to this, WhatsApp is also testing new icons for the share sheet menu with more colors and a new group chat events feature. This is useful for creating events in groups to accommodate events that involve all members of the group. We’ll know when these changes become official. Don’t worry.
